Edith Laura Ash, 93, of Johnson City, TN, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the residence of her daughter. She was a native of Palmerton, PA, daughter of the late Eugene Willis and Iona Eve Dettmer Hankee. Edith was a homemaker and member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, her husband Lewis Smith Ash preceded her in death. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Penelope 'Penny'? and Richard Heydt of Johnson City, TN; a son, James Lewis Ash of Orlando, FL; a brother, Eugene Willis Hankee, Jr. and wife, Jean of Walnutport, PA; a sister, Doris Rudolf of Wilmington, NC; two grandchildren and their spouses, James Michael and Beth Heydt of Mason, OH, Leslie Christine and Donnie Bowden of Trucksville, PA; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 4:00 pm in the Community Room of the Colonial Hills Retirement Center, Johnson City under the direction of Dr. Jim Richter. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm until time of service at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: Westminster Presbyterian Church Missions Fund, 2343 Knob Creek Rd., Johnson City, TN 37604.
