Edith Martin Stone

Mrs. Edith Martin Stone, age 96, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in the NHC HeathCare. Mrs. Stone was born July 21, 1918, in Colonial Heights, to the late Henry and Nora Edith Moody Martin. She was a member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church for over sixty-five years, and a member of Nolichucky Grand View Chapter and Order of the Eastern Star for five years. In addition to her parents her husband of sixty-five years, Ira W. Stone; six brothers, Burl, Carl, Glenn, Cecil, Joe, and John Martin preceded her in death. Mrs. Stone is survived by her son, Ira Buford Stone and his wife Janice; three grandsons, Jeff Stone and his wife Karen, Todd Stone and his wife AJ and Tim Stone and his wife Traci; seven great-grandchildren, Austin Stone, Kaleb Stone, Kelsey Stone, Anna Kate Stone, RY Stone, Devon Wade and Wilson Wade; several nephews and nieces, cousins, and a host of friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to Caris Hospice and NHC HealthCare for the special care given to Mrs. Stone. The family of Mrs. Edith Martin Stone will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 PM Sunday, November 30, 2014, in the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Jeff Alford and Mr. Robert Bowman officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Charles Martin, Ronnie Martin, Dean Hurley, Jeff Stone, Todd Stone, Tim Stone, Kaleb Stone, Austin Stone, Kenneth Martin, RY Stone, Devon Wade and Wilson Wade. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Martin, Bob Martin, Wayne Jones, Frank Jarrett, Bill Smith, Harry Harman, Jim Brant, William Dade, Jerry Boyer, Dwayne Harkleroad, and Jerry Harkleroad. Memorial contributions may be made to the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 1213 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601.
