Edith Walker Carder

October 8, 1917 — June 20, 2013

Mrs. Edith Walker Carder, age 95, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Carder was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was the daughter of the late David Walker and Rosa Lee Livingston Walker. In addition to her parents, her husband, Allen Hobart Carder; a son, David Allen; two sisters, Martha Jackson and Ida Lee Kelsey; one brother, Robert Clinton Walker also preceded her in death. Mrs. Carder was a homemaker. She was a member of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Edna Watson and husband Jim; four sons, James S. Carder and wife Belva; Kenneth L. Carder and wife Linda, Dennis C. Carder and wife Wanda, Joseph R. Carder and wife Kathy, and; one sister, Mary Emily Hoilman; one brother, Mack L. Walker and wife Dot, one sister in law, Ruby Carder; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Edith Walker Carder will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church Dr. Rev. Tae-Hun Yoon will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday in the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Jonesborough. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 2:50 PM Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fairhaven United Methodist Church, 3131 W. Walnut Street, Johnson City, TN 37604; or Amedisys Hospice, 167 Hudson Drive, Elizabethton, TN 37643; or your favorite charity.
