Edna Boyer

Edna Boyer, 95, of the Boones Creek community, passed away Thursday, may 26, 2016, at NHC Healthcare. She was a devoted homemaker who loved caring for her family, who were her pride and joy. Her home was always open to her extended family as they shared table fellowship, warmth, and love. Edna was a longtime member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities. Her love for our God and his church was passed on by teaching her children to love and serve God. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Raymond L. Boyer. Survivors include: three children, Jerry L. Boyer and his wife Priscilla, Janice Stone and her husband Buford, and Lorraine Bowman and her husband Robert; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Todd and Tim Stone, Maurice and Warner Boyer, Stephanie Boyer Stump and Alison Bowman Sexton; and fifteen great-grandchildren. The family is gratefully indebted to the team of caregivers who assisted in the home and to the staff at NHC Healthcare for their loving and dedicated care. The family of Edna Boyer will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 PM Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 PM with Dr. Jack Parrott officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday May 31, 2016, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Son-in-law Rev. Robert Bowman will officiate. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, 1213 E.
