Mrs. Edna Mae Coffman Tate, 78, of Johnson City, went home to be with her Jesus, Friday, May 4, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Johnson City, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Tennie Mae Miller Coffman. Edna was a member of Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Tate, Sr.; sister Louise Greene; and brother Frank Coffman. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Smith-Martin and husband Daniel and Sue Jones and husband Randy, all of Johnson City; two sons, Joe Tate and wife Jo Anna and Carson Tate and wife Debbie, all of Jonesborough; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three brothers Samuel Coffman, Sherman Coffman, both of Baltimore, Maryland, and Ralph Coffman, of Johnson City; and sister, Betty Jones of Danville, Alabama. Pallbearers include: Chris Jones, Michael Tate, Chuck White, Brent Jones, Wesley Tate, Brian Tapp, and Jessie Tucker. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road, Suite 6, Johnson City, 37604 The family will receive friends, Sunday, May 6, 2012, 6-8pm, at Morris Baker Funeral Home. Services will be immediately follow, 8pm, with Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. Burial will be held, Monday, May 7, 2012, 2pm, at Washington County Memory Gardens.
