Edna Hooper Pearson

Edna Hooper Pearson, 95, passed away March 18, 2010 at NHC Healthcare Center. Formerly of Chattanooga, she had resided in Johnson City for the past 18 years. She was the daughter of the late Reece E. and Hattie McAmis Hooper of Cleveland, TN. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Elbert L. Pearson in 1997. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Johnson City and a former member of the Brainerd Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga. She is survived by her daughter Pam Pearson Sams of Johnson City; grandson Jordan Sams and his wife Khia of Johnson City; and grandson Ian Sams of Tuscaloosa, AL. Several cousins also survive. The family would like to thank the staffs of NHC Healthcare, Wellington Place of Johnson City, and Caris Hospice for all the loving care that they have provided over the past 10 years. The funeral service for Edna Hooper Pearson will be conducted on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 3 PM in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road. The graveside committal service will follow in the Fort Hill Cemetery, Cleveland, Tn. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Active pallbearers will members of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37601 or to the charity of your choice.
