Edna Pearl Massey

December 18, 1933 — May 20, 2013

Edna Pearl Massey, age 79, of Unicoi, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Massey was a native of Roan Mountain, TN, who had lived most of her life in Unicoi County. She was a daughter of the late Homer and Dovie Street Gouge. Mrs. Massey was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her first husband, Ronald Killen; brother, Donald Gouge; and sister, Shirley Swink. Survivors include: husband, Robert Massey, of the home; three sons, Randy Killen, and his wife Tammy, Unicoi, and Daniel and Dennis Killen, of the home; five sisters, Mildred Woods, Norma Blalock, Stella Burleson, and Sonja Rice, all of Johnson City, and Geraldine Cansler, of Winston-Salem, NC; and five grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, Yolonda, and Andrew Killen, and Christina Thorpe. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church. The graveside service for Edna Pearl Massey will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, May 24, 2013 in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Rev. Bill McDaniel will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Tony Gouge, Michael Gouge, Steve Blalock, Terry Paul, Gary Rice and Roger Banks. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Friday at Morris-Baker prior to the service.
