Edna Murray Frye, 91, of Johnson City, TN passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 surrounded by her daughter and son-in law. A native of Limestone, TN, Edna is the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Crawford Murray. Growing up in the Clear Springs community of Greene County TN on a farm she was part of a large family with many friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Ralph R. Frye (owner of Frye Transfer Company), sisters Mae B. Jaynes and Pauline Marion, and brothers Henry Murray Jr. and Donald Murray.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Theresa Martin and husband Victor along with her grandsons Joshua Martin and Nicole, Laconia NH, Nicholas Martin, Quincy, MA, Daniel Martin and wife Amanda of Johnson City, TN. She also leaves three great-granddaughters Naarah, Adriel and Elorah, one sister, Joyce Hopkins, Dayton, OH, and several nieces and nephews.

After moving to Johnson City in 1946, she began working at the telephone company as a switchboard operator. She met Ralph in 1948, they were married in 1950 and she became a full time homemaker in 1955 after they started their family. Edna was a charter member of Boones Creek Bible Church. A godly woman and devoted prayer warrior, she was a Christian who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Later she returned to the workforce as an office assistant for Harrison B. Gaby, Optometrist and was a member of the American Business Women's Association.

Edna enjoyed entertaining family and friends and her home was always the gathering place due to her caring and generous personality. She loved to cook, travel, and especially enjoyed summers at Myrtle Beach, SC and Marco Island, FL with her large family. She took pride in her trip to Paris and London in 2006 and her family always remembers how she charmed all the Europeans she met. Love knew no bounds after becoming a grandmother, she proudly doted on her three grandsons with great love and affection. As a great-grandmother, her love abounded even more as she enjoyed having little girls to love and cherish. She left a beautiful legacy of memories with her special tea parties enjoyed with her great granddaughters.

Due to the current pandemic, there will be no public visitation with the family. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Monte Vista Memorial Gardens, Johnson City, TN. Active Pallbearers will be Victor Martin, Daniel Martin, Gregory Patton, Jeffrey Patton and Ryan Patton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joshua Martin, Nicholas Martin, James Hopkins, Christopher Hopkins and Ron Marion.
