Ella Mae Bentley

Ella Mae Bentley, 98, of Johnson City, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Appalachian Christian Village. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late James Madison and Vergie Dulaney Garst Bowman. Ella was a homemaker and had worked at the Leon Ferenbach Textile Mill, J. C. Penny and The Remnant Shop. Following her retirement she volunteered at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was the oldest member of the Austin Springs United Methodist Church. Ella was valedictorian of her class at Boones Creek High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Howard Bentley in 1962, also a sister, Ileene Hardin and two brothers, Clarence and Clyde Bowman and nephew, Randy Bowman. Survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Jack Patrick and Margaret 'Jo'? Bentley all of Johnson City; two grandsons, Howard Patrick of Johnson City and James Patrick and his wife, Stacey of Greenville, SC; three great granddaughters, Elizabeth, Ella and Ava; three great great grandchildren, David, Aaron and Mileena; three nieces, Teresa, Judy and Martha; three nephews, Ronnie, Jimmy and Lewis; several great nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2013 at 8:00 pm in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home, under the direction of Rev. Jeff Moncier and Rev. Bill Wells. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until time of service at 8:00pm. A committal service will be conducted on Saturday at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 11:00am. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those attending may assemble at Morris '? Baker Funeral Home to leave in procession by 10:40am. The family would like to offer special thanks to the Staff of the Appalachian Christian Village Nursing Wing for their excellent care. Memorials may be made to the Austin Springs United Methodist Church, 726 Austin Springs Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
