Elmer Craig Hinkle

Mr. Elmer C. Hinkle, age 82, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Hinkle lived in Michigan until he retired in 1983 and then he moved back to Johnson City. He was the son of the late John Bruce Hinkle and Hannah Miller Hinkle. In addition to his parents his wife Lelia Fay Hinkle; two sons, Larry and Ronald Hinkle; one sister, Ruth Lambert; three brothers, Bill, Dayton and Floyd Hinkle also preceded him in death. Mr. Hinkle was a veteran of the US Army. He retired from General Motors after 36 years of service. Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Burnell and her husband of Dale City, Virginia; one brother, Carl Hinkle of Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Neil Burnell, Andrew Burnell, Paul Burnell, Mark Hinkle, Melanie Graham and Craig Hinkle; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Elmer C. Hinkle will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. John Wakefield will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Gunnings Cemetery, Blountville. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The Bristol VFW will accord military honors. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 AM Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
