Elmer Phillip Lockner

Mr. Elmer Phillip Lockner, age 84, 0f 1003 Skyline Drive, Johnson City, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Lockner was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was the son of the late Phillip M. Lockner and Ethel Tipton Lockner. In addition to his parents his first wife, Mary Lockner; two brothers, Leroy and Fred Lockner; two sisters, Grace Taylor and Louise Carter also preceded him in death. Mr. Lockner was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was of the Christian faith. He retired from the Johnson City Fire Department after thirty years of service as Assistant Fire Chief. Survivors include: his second wife, Margaret Lockhart Lockner of the home; one daughter, Brenda Lockner Barnett of Johnson City; one son, Richard S. Lockner of Jonesborough; one brother, Ray Lockner of Johnson City; two sisters, Nola Adcock of East Rochester, Ohio and Joyce Randolph of Apopka, Florida; one granddaughter, Natalie N. Barnett of Johnson City; five step children, Gary Laxton of Granite Falls, North Carolina, Janice Miller of Lenoir, North Carolina, Terry Laxton of Caser, North Carolina, Ann Clark of Jefferson, North Carolina and Linda Rummage of Martinsburg, West Virginia; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Elmer Phillip Lockner will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, May 12, 2011 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. David Balzer will officiate. Music will be provided by Laura Jordan. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Friday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ben Lockner, Donnie Freeman, Billy Lockner, Freddie Lockner, Rod Balch and Roy Jenkins. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military rights. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Friday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Johnson City Fire Department, 505 East Main Street, Johnson City, Tn. 37601.
