Elmer R. Bailey

Mr. Elmer R. Bailey, 83, of Johnson City, died Monday, July 13, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Bailey was a native of Unicoi County and had lived in Washington County since 1955. He was a son of the late Edward and Polly Davis Bailey. Mr. Bailey graduated from Unicoi County High School and then earned his BS degree from Steed College in 1978. He was a US Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War. Mr. Bailey retired from Sperry-Unisys Inc. where he worked as a Quality Assurance Technician. He was of the Methodist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice M. Bailey, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include: one son, Dr. Joe C. Bailey and his wife Cyndi Eorgan Bailey, of Johnson City; two granddaughters, Catherine N. Bailey, of Johnson City, and Elizabeth A. Bailey, of Boston, MA; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Mr. Elmer R. Bailey will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm Friday, July 17, 2015 in Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Following the visitation, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for a 3:00 pm graveside service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
