Elsie Yates Riley, 92, of Johnson City, passed away on Friday, May 1st, 2020, at her residence.
She was born in Embreeville, Tennessee, but spent most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Clifton and Rosa Stanton Yates.
Elsie was a loving woman with a big heart, who was always taking care of somebody. She gave her children a wonderful childhood, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren a memorable grandmother, and the lives of her neighbours and friends a caring touch.
Elsie was a master of the domestic, taking pride in caring for her home by cooking, cleaning, and tending the yard. While she did not do much gardening, she had a true appreciation for the beauty of flowers.
In addition to her parents, Elsie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack B. Riley; siblings, Hazel Landers, Hubert Yates, Robert Yates, and Betty Whaley; great-grandchild, Jackson Bonsor; and brothers-in-law, Robert Riley and James Riley.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jack B. Riley Jr., Danny Riley, Jane Riley Bonsor and husband Bill; grandchildren, Kimberly Bonsor Goodman, Kristie Bonsor Sattler and husband Jason, Kevin Bonsor and wife Lisa, Colby Riley and Andy Riley; great-grandchildren, Alexis Goodman, Ryan Goodman, Brody Bonsor, Corbin Bonsor, Declan Bonsor, Gavin Sattler and Braden Sattler; siblings, Earl Yates and Ruby Yates O’Dell,; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family of Elsie Riley will be holding a private committal service at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
