Elva F. Jaynes, 94, Kingsport, died Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Remington House, Assisted Living. Mrs. Jaynes was a native of Haysi, VA and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Zack and Belvia Sifers South. Mrs. Jaynes was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Jaynes and one brother, Jack South. She was a retired beautician. Mrs. Jaynes was a member of Shenandoah Presbyterian Church. Survivors include one son, Paul Jaynes and his wife, Eva, Kingsport; one daughter, Linda Chatman and her husband, Fred, Mount Airy, NC; one sister, Eula Phipps, Johnson City; one brother, Jim South, Clintwood, VA and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Jaynes will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Reverend J. Andrew White will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. The family expresses a special thank you to the staffs of Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice and Remington House Assisted Living for their professional and loving care of their mother.
