Emily Ann Stafford, 94, a resident of Asbury Place, formerly of 1209 College Heights Drive, Johnson City, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Johnson City, a daughter of the late B. F. Stafford, Sr. and Emma Davis Stafford. Emily was a retired teacher in the Johnson City School System, having taught for 44 years, from 1935 to 1980. She was a member of the University Parkway Baptist Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Alpha Delta Kappa, Child Evangelism Fellowship and the Golden 50s and ETSU. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, B. F., Jr. and Julian Stafford. Survivors include: a niece and her husband, Emily S. and Leon Laurendeau of Johnson City; two nephews and a niece-in-law, William E. and Debbie Stafford of Bedford, VA and George Stafford of Durham, NC; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. A graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of Dr. Michael Oaks. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time to leave in procession at 12:45 p.m. Online condolences are available at www.morrisbaker.com.
