Emma Sue Debter

Ms. Emma Sue Debter, 81, of Jonesborough, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 in the Christian Care Center in Johnson City. Ms. Debter was a native of Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late John Wesley Carter and Nell Harrison Carter. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Leota Snapp and Mildred Rae; three brothers, Milton Carter, Howard Carter and John Carter, Jr. Ms. Debter retired from Baxter Pharmaseal. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church but attended Cherry Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include: one son, Paul Debter and his wife Lynn of Jonesborough; one daughter, Cathy A. Lyons and her husband Charles of Jonesborough; two grandchildren, Jason Lyons and his wife Stacey of Jonesborough and Ashley Lyons of Jonesborough; two great grandchildren, Natasha Lyons and Dakoatah Lyons both of Jonesborough. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at the Christian Care Center for their special care of Ms. Debter. The funeral service for Ms. Emma Sue Debter will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Tommy Clark will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Wednesday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
