Emogene "Gene" Burnett Younger

Emogene “Gene” Burnett Younger, 93, of Newbern, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024, at The Waters of Johnson City.

Gene was born into the loving home of John and Eugenia Burnett in Rienzi, Mississippi.

Gene met and married the love of her life, Noel T. Younger, and together they made a house a home.

She was a member of Newbern Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women for many years. She was always quick and willing to do what she could to help others.

Gene enjoyed sports and played golf. She especially loved watching her children and grandchildren play their sports. She played dominos and cards with friends. An avid reader and an outstanding cook, Gene was certainly one of a kind. Her great sense of humor brought smiles to everyone around her on many occasions.

Along with her parents, Gene is preceded in death by: her husband, Noel T. Younger; one son, Kenneth R. Younger; and nine siblings.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include: her children, Terrie Younger (Randy Jones), Garry and Mary Younger, and Rob and Jennifer Younger; seven grandchildren, Stephen Younger, Blake Jones, Blair Arnold, Aubrey Younger, Abbey Younger, Brady Younger, and Jackson Younger; six great-grandchildren, Jayla Jones, Emma Younger, Carlie Younger, Emma Rae Arnold, Nolan Younger and Julie Younger; a special niece, Frances Calvery; along with several other nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.
