Erma Louise Scott

February 25, 1921 — December 12, 2011

Mrs. Erma Louise Scott, age 90, resident of The Carriage Club of Charlotte, North Carolina, died peacefully Monday, December 12, 2011. Mrs. Scott, a native of Condit, Ohio, was the daughter of the late Gail and Zada Longshore. She was a graduate of Bowling Green State University and earned a M.A. degree from Ohio State University where she taught for several years before becoming a high school business teacher. Mrs. Scott was an active member of the First Presbyterian of Johnson City, Tennessee, serving as a Circle Chairman, Board Member of the Women of the Church, and faithful member of the Chancel Choir for over twenty years. She had served as a member of the Johnson City Girls Club Executive Board and had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 70 years. Before her vision was affected, Mrs. Scott enjoyed reading, playing the piano, gardening, and sewing. Erma was happiest spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, at her mountain retirement home in Tennessee. Survivors include: her loving husband of 65 years, H. Don Scott; daughter, Mrs. Linda Cropper and husband, Tim, of Charlotte, NC; son, Mr. Randy Scott and wife, Maureen, of Santa Fe, NM; three grandchildren, Michael and wife, Natalie; Beth and husband, Mike; and Steffany and husband, Bryan; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Mrs. Scott will be held Thursday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City, TN. A graveside service for family members will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped or the American Heart Association. The family would like to thank the staff of The Carriage Club for their fine care and support.
