Mr. Ernest 'Jack'? Hartsock, Jr., age 81, of Johnson City, passed away, Sunday, November 10, 2013, in the Center on Aging and Health, Erwin. Mr. Hartsock was a native of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He was the son of the late Ernest Jackson Hartsock, Sr. and Ruth Anderson Hartsock. In addition to his parents, one son, Daniel 'Danny'? Hartsock; one brother, William Hartsock; three sisters, JoAnn Necessary, Betty Tankersley and Wilma Sexton also preceded him in death. Mr. Hartsock was a U.S. Army veteran having twenty-four years of service. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer grade three. He was a member of the Pinecrest Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Jewell Hartsock; three daughters, Helen Jones, Joyce Kinley and her husband Jackie and Janice Smith and her husband Lenny; two sons, Jerry Hartsock and James 'Jimmy'? Hartsock; one sister, Alma Reasor; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren. The funeral service for Mr. Ernest 'Jack'? Hartsock, Jr. will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday, November 13, 2013 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Lenny Smith will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Hunter Minnick, Bryan Woods, Josh Smith, Steven Minnick, Daniel Minnick, Jerry Hartsock, Jimmy Hartsock, Jeremy Hartsock and Danny Hartsock. The Boone Dam Post # 49333 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Morris-Baker. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
