Esther Toby Barlow

Esther ?Toby' Barlow, 101, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Christian Care Center of Johnson City. Toby was born in Banner Elk, NC on June 2, 1914. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lunda and Harrison Barlow; five sisters, Jeanette Barlow, Edith Jones, Ruth Raper, Margaret Collins, and Mildred Prevett. Esther was a retired school teacher, having taught in Virginia, Ohio, and Florida. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Lees McRae College, Banner Elk, NC. She attended McKinley Memorial Bible Church for many years. She is survived by one sister, Miriam Archer of Jonesborough, and several nieces and nephews. The family of Toby Barlow will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Morris-Baker Oak Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2 pm Saturday under the direction of Chaplain Dwight MacPherson and Rev. Lenny Smith. A committal service will be conducted at 3 pm Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Powder Branch Baptist Church, McKinley Memorial Bible Church, Hospice, or charity of your choice.
