Etta Mae Leach

April 24, 1919 — August 26, 2007

Etta Mae Leach, Johnson City, died Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the North Side Hospital. Ms. Leach was a native of Washington County who had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late Joel W. and Maude Walsh Marshall. In addition to her parents two sisters, Fannie Rhea Sienknecht and Martha C. Marshall; two brothers, Bill Marshall and Walter C. Marshall also preceded her in death. She retired from Levi-Straus Inc. She was very active in leading the CIT Team. She and her sister Martha traveled in all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii. She had also visited Australia, Great Britian, Mexico, Switzerland, Germany and Canada. Etta Mae and Martha gathered geneology materials of the Marshall family to qualify for the honor of membership into the First Families of the State of Franklin and also the First Families of the State of Tennesse. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Susan Wallace and her husband Tom, of Jonesborough and Karen E.Whittaker and her husband John, of Jonesborough; two granddaughters, Susan Ballard and her husband Heath, of Columbia, Tennessee and Allison Wallace, of Jonesborough; three great grandchildren, Johnathan Ballard, Justin Ballard and Julianna Ballard. The funeral service for Etta Mae Leach will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Dick Morris, Minister will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the funeral chapel at 10:30 AM to go in procession. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
