Etta Ray, 48, of 245 Scioto Road, Unicoi died Monday, February 11, 2008 in the Center on Aging and Health in Erwin. Mrs. Ray was a native of Johnson City who had just recently moved to Unicoi. She was a daughter of the late Eugene and Thelma Margaret Brown Tittle. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Johnson City. Mrs. Ray was a licensed practical nurse working in health care. She is preceded in death by: her parents; and a sister Maria Fraga; one uncle, Jim Brown; one aunt, Barbara Gomes. Survivors include: her husband, Roger Ray of the home; one sister, Lee Hughes and her husband Allen of Erwin; two uncles, Bill Brown and his wife Lynda of Piney Flats, Lacy Hughes and his wife Barbara of Spring Hill, FL; two aunts, Martha Smith of Ormond Beach, Fl. and Joan Brown of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Etta Ray will be conducted at 8 PM Wednesday, February 13, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Jim Chatman and Rev. Bill Brown will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM on Thursday. Active pallbearers will be selected from her church family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Red Cross, 218 N. Main Street, Johnson City, TN 37601 or donate blood to the American Red Cross.
