Eva Oteeve Elrod

After 101 great years of loving and serving her family and others, Eva Oteeve Elrod left this world in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 21, 2018 to spend eternity with the Lord. She was a native of Greene County, daughter of the late John Andrew and Sarah Catherine McIntosh Smith. Eva was a homemaker and true matriarch of her family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Johnson City. In addition to her parents, her husband James Elrod preceded her in death in 2001; two sisters, Madella Irene Smith and Lucille Shelton; a brother, Johnny Smith all preceded her. Those left to cherish Eva?s memory are: a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Austin and Wenny Elrod; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan Marie Simerly, Linda and Dennis Kerley, Donna and Tom Seaton; a brother and sister-in-law, Milburn and Carolyn Smith; two sisters, Pauline Shelton and Velta Rae Riley; ten grandchildren, Eric Elrod, Christopher Elrod, Leisel Elrod, Quentin Elrod, Eva Elrod Timothy, Andy Simerly, Ashley Simerly, Brittney Jarrett, Justin Seaton and Matthew Seaton; nine great grandchildren, Leo Yount, Bryson Elrod, Eason Elrod, Tevin Elrod, Matthias Elrod, Kegan Elrod, Xander Elrod, Annabelle Elrod and Colton Jarrett, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in Dogwood Chapel. A celebration of life service will follow under the direction of Rev. Rick Clowers.
