Evelyn Tyree Adams

August 8, 1927 — January 5, 2014

Evelyn Tyree Adams, age 86, of Johnson City passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City after an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Johnson City, and was the daughter of the late Wright F. Tyree and Pauline Hicks Tyree. In addition to her parents, her husband, Don J. Adams and her brother, Ted Tyree, preceded her in death. Evelyn worked first as a Nurses Aide, and then later as a Ward Clerk at the Johnson City Medical Center for 34 years, before retiring in 1994. She loved the Lord, and was a long-time member of University Parkway Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Evelyn will long be remembered as a very kind and loving woman who was always ready and willing to come to the aid of anyone who needed help or assistance. Survivors include: four daughters, Patricia Pitts and her husband Jack, Donna Jill Casteel and her husband Mike, Robin Adams, and Marianne Taylor and her husband Tony; one son, Michael L. Adams and his wife Carolyn; one sister, Frances Cade and her husband Denne; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one nephew; and one niece. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of NHC Healthcare of Johnson City and Caris Healthcare for their wonderful care of their mother during the last three years of her life. The family of Mrs. Evelyn Adams will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, January 9, 2014 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the South Chapel at 7 PM. Dr. Michael Oaks will officiate. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, January 10, 2014 in the Highland Church of Christ Cemetery. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1 PM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services.
