Felix Eugene 'Gene'? Lilly, 90, of 503 W. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Asbury Place. Mr. Lilly was a native of Johnson City and was a son of the late Dallas Monroe and Mary Kate White Lilly. He was a retired salesman of office supplies and a former employee of Summers Hardware. Mr. Lilly served his country in World War II in the Army Air Corp and in Korea in the Signal Corp. He was awarded a Purple Heart in WW II and a Bronze Star in Korea. He was a Charter Member of the Grandview Christian Church and was active as a Deacon and Elder and was a former Chairman of the Board. Mr. Lilly had been a Board Chairman at the Appalachian Christian Village. He was also a Mason, Shriner, member of the Johnson City Optimist Club, and the United Commercial Travelers(UCT). He was an organizer of the Reunion for the 89th Airborne Squadron of the Army Air Corp. Mr. Lilly is preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Howard Lilly; and one sister Marjorie Ann Lilly. Survivors include: his wife, Katherine Morgan Lilly of the home; three sons, Bob Lilly of Jonesborough, TN, Ivan Lilly of Johnson City, and Hal Lilly of San Diego, CA; one daughter, Jacqueline 'Susie'? Garland of Asheville, NC; four granddaughters; two grandsons; two great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews also survive. A memorial service for Felix E.'?Gene'? Lilly will be conducted on Sunday, September 14,2008 in the Grandview Christian Church. Mr. Aaron Wymer will officiate. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 11 AM in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Bristol V.F.W. and the Tennessee National Guard. The family will receive friends at the church from 3 to 4 PM on Sunday, September 14, 2008,prior to the service. The family request that memorials gifts be sent to the Grandview Christian Church, 300 University Parkway, Johnson City, TN 37604.
