Fletcher Hancock Dyer, age 22, died in a motorcycle accident on Thursday, November 5, 2009 in Johnson City, TN. Fletcher was a Johnson City native who attended Science Hill High School and was a senior in the Department of Art and Design at East Tennessee State University. Fletcher is one of the brightest lights of our life. He did more fantastic work in the few years of his short life than most of us do in a lifetime- in the beginning serving as his sister, Indias biggest role model and later becoming a model for all of us- his passion, reflected in his life and work was to make the world a better place. Fletcher is the wonderful son of Barbara H. and M. Wayne Dyer of Johnson City. Fletcher is survived by two sisters Carrie A. Dyer of Little Rock, AR; and India E. Dyer of Johnson City, TN. Survivors also include his grandparents, I. Marvin Dyer and Opal M. Dyer of Roanoke, Virginia; uncles and aunts, Reginald L. and Anna Dyer; Kenneth and Lori Hancock, all of Salem, VA; Susanne and Roger McNulty; Pat and John Whitcomb II, all of Roanoke, VA. Additionally, cousins include Sarah D. Quesinberry, Teddy Dyer, Daniel Dyer, Jessica Hancock, Alex Hancock, John Whitcomb III and his wife, Dawn, all of Salem, VA; Heidi Clemons, and Felicia Whitcomb, both of Roanoke, VA. Fletcher was predeceased by Colleen and Earl Hancock, maternal grandparents; and great grandparents, Carrie E. and Frank L. Hancock, Ruby F. Willis, and Mae Musselman, all formerly of Salem, VA.; Ethel and Isaac Martin Dyer formerly of Roanoke, VA. The family will receive close friends and family at Morris-Baker Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 8, 2009. Friends may also call at any time at Fletcher Dyers home in Johnson City, TN. A Celebration of Fletchers Life and Work will be announced at a later date.
