Floyd A. Sartain, 76, of 1177 Austin Springs Road, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with leukemia and lung cancer. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Appalachian Christian Village. He was a native of White Pine, son of the late Andrew and Martha Alice Sinnard Sartain. Floyd was a general manager and salesman at Tri-State Air Cooled Engines, he also worked for Automotive Electric Company and R. T. Clapp Company. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War in Germany. Attended the past12 years at Edgefield United Methodist Church. Floyd was a lifetime member of the Austin Springs United Methodist Church. He loved; vegetable gardening, wood working, doing mechanics on small engines, his church, fishing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Rufus and Herbert Sartain and a sister, Mary Slemp.Survivors include: his wife Jean Sartain of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Joe Stitt of Piney Flats, Kimberly and Dean Sartain-Baggett of Johnson City; two grandsons, Adam Joseph Stitt and Tyler Andrew Stitt both of Piney Flats; a very special great nephew, Micah Lee 'Junior'? Black of Piney Flats; a brother, Fred T. Sartain and his wife, Kathy of Georgia; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Margie and John Holloway of Piney Flats, Louise Metcalf of Johnson City, Polly and Frank Proffitt of Jonesborough; Virginia and Gene Milhorn of Johnson City; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Estell Williams and Rev. Larry DeVault. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until time of service at 7:30p.m. and other times at the home of a daughter, Deborah Stitt, 110 Edgefield Road in Piney Flats. A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Edgefield Cemetery at Piney Flats. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession at 9:30 a.m. Active pallbearers will be: Johnny Adams, Joe Adams, Willie Adams, Gary Brown, John Holloway, Adam Stitt and Tyler Stitt. The families heartfelt thanks goes to Dr. Thomas Johnson, formerly of the Cancer Outreach Association. He served Mr. Sartain with dignity and compassion during his battle with leukemia and cancer before relocating to Florida. They also would like to express much appreciation to Adventa Hospice Services Amedisys of Elizabethton; with special thanks to Sheila Ruston, R. N. for her unwavering dedication to Mr. Sartain and family.
