Floyd Hughes

Floyd Hughes, 87, Johnson City, died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Hughes was a native of Buladean, NC and had lived the past fifty-six years in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Tennessee and Pearl Putman Hughes. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Hughes, one daughter, Wanda Jean Stout Hughes and one son, Randy Hughes. He retired from North American Rayon after forty seven years of service. Mr. Hughes was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church. Survivors include: one son, Don Hughes and his wife Cathy of Gray; two daughters, Wilma, and her husband, Dr. Michael Oaks, Jonesborough; Linda Carver, and her husband, Jerry, Gray; ten grandchildren, Mark Stout, FL, Keith Stout, Johnson City, Janie Stout, Erwin, Jeff Carver, and his wife, Sherrie, Jonesborough, April Ellison and husband Sammy; Johnson City, Amy Turner and her husband Brian, Jonesborough, Kevin Carver, Gray, Kimberly Wade, and her husband, Blake,Gray; Jayson Oaks and his wife, Nicole, Johnson City and Justin Hughes, Gray and ten great grandchildren. A very special 'Bob' the cat. A celebration of life service for Mr. Hughes will be held at 8 PM Saturday, September 2, 2006 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday in the funeral home. Dr. Michael Oaks will officiate. Music provided by Harold and Ruth McNabb. Graveside services will be held at 3 Pm Sunday at Hughes Cemetery, Buladean, NC. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 2:15 PM at Odom?s Chapel Church, Buladean, NC and travel in procession to the cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
