Floyd J Fannon

October 11, 1943 — July 9, 2022

Floyd JR Fannon (Shorty) 78, Kingsport, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Fannon was born in Coeburn, VA to the late Earl and Nannie Fannon.

He worked as a coal miner for a few years, was part owner of a roofing company with his brother and brother-in-law, and for most of his working years he worked in dry cleaning with his mother.

Mr. Fannon never met a stranger. He was always a happy person, ready to dance or to play cards. He enjoyed gambling, fishing and being outdoors always.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fannon was preceded in death by: two brothers, Curtis and Randy Fannon; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Payne and Mack Absher; and one son-in-law, Steve Miller.

Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Grace Jeanie Fannon; two children, Thomas Fannon (Rachel Herrman) and Crystal Fannon Miller (Kenneth Pickett); 10 grandchildren, Justin Fannon, Jennifer Miller, Thomas Michael Fannon, Michael Austin, Jordan Austin, Cheyenne Fagan and Bubba Fagan, Dustin, Sarah and Audrey Miller; 10 great grandchildren; 5 siblings, Thelma “Tiny” Absher, Judy Payne, Dean Fannon (Lois), Bobby Fannon (Louise) and Palmer Fannon; one sister-in-law, Faye Fannon; two aunts, Drew Jackson and Jane Goodwin; several nieces and nephews; two dogs, Buddy and Gizmo; and one granddog, Sydney.

The family of Floyd Fannon will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 PM. Pallbearers include: Dustin Miller, Sarah Miller, Justin Fannon, Michael Austin, Jordan Austin, Cheyenne Fagan and Kenneth Pickett. The committal service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM.
