Floyd Vernon Jones

December 15, 1929 — September 25, 2007

Floyd V. Jones, 77, of 2560 Plymouth Road, Apt. 204, Johnson City, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Halls, Tennessee, son of the late Roosevelt and Ollie Mae Gibson Jones. Floyd was a salesman, of both cemeteries and automobiles. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea having served in the U. S. Army as a Quartermaster and a member of the Answer Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a grandchild, Coby Zeoli. He loved fishing, hunting and being in the out of doors. Deer was his favorite target. Survivors include: his wife, Jewell Hollingsworth Jones of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Edna Jones of Bean Station; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Stephanie and Jerry Radford of Johnson City, Gloria and Danny Overbay of Blountville and Desiree Honeycutt of Johnson City; a sister, Linda Summar of Ripley; eight grandchildren and two grandsons-in-law, Heather Jones, Amber Jones, Chris Honeycutt, Shanna Greenlee, Jason Radford, Nikki and Dickie Whitehead and Renee and Aaron Hilbert: four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, September 27, 2007 in the North Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home at 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Pastor Jason Wiley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be: Jerry Walker, Donnie Freeman, Kris Honeycutt, Jerry Radford, Jason Radford and Aaron Hilbert. Military honors will be provided by the VFW #3382 of Kingsport and the Tennessee National Guard. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Ste. 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.
