Frances Garland Cox
October 19, 1947 – January 28, 2024
It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearest mother, Frances Garland Cox, of Johnson City, who peacefully went to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Frances entered this world on October 19th, 1947, alongside her cherished twin sister, Charlotte Bolton. Throughout their lives they shared an inseparable bond. Frances, a graduate of Science Hill High School, went on to Austin Peay University and East Tennessee State University, earning her Bachelor's Degree. Her passion to nurture led her to become an Elementary School Teacher which was a natural fit. Frances was always at her finest when she was caring for others, whether it was her students, her children, or her aging mother.
Frances's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she surrounded herself with the words of Jesus. Her unwavering devotion to her Christian beliefs served as a guiding light in her journey, bringing comfort to her life.
In her earlier years, Frances married her high school sweetheart, Greg Cox, and though their paths diverged, the love she held endured. Frances had a deep love for Johnson City and Buffalo Mountain, where she raised her family. Frances was an adoring mother to her children, Katherine Frances Cox and Gregory Corpening Garland Cox (Macy) and found joy in her grandsons, Bridges and Thatcher Cox.
Frances is survived by her beloved sister, Charlotte Bolton (Chuck); niece, Campbell Born (Brandon); nephew, Chip (Autumn) Bolton, who were always there to support and watch over her; niece and nephew, Jonathan and Marinna Mullins. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. N.F. and Frances Garland; her sister, Autumn Dellanne Mullins; and her brother, Robert.
