Frances Marie Rutherford

November 14, 1923 — January 19, 2008

Marie L. Rutherford, 84, of 1313 Plantation Drive, Johnson City, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late Clarence and Mattie Feathers Lilley. Marie was member of the Berea Free Will Baptist Church. She loved to do needlepoint, quilting, cooking and being with and caring for her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Thomas Charles Rutherford in 2007; also four brothers, Carroll, Claude, Glenn and Carl Lilley and a sister Ruby Saylor. Survivors include: her son, Charles W. 'Chuck'? and his wife Pam Rutherford of Jonesborough; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and David Thomason of Jonesborough, Janet and Terry Dampier of Johnson City; a brother, Joe and his wife Lois Lilley of Erwin; two sisters, Lou and her husband Hoyt Bragg of Johnson City and Ethel Enis of Florida; seven grandchildren, Annette Dougherty, Kim Ingle, Steven Green, Cindy Teague, Brenda Green, Renee Rutherford and Dylan Rutherford; five great grandchildren, David Ingle, Savannah Dougherty, Marcus Teague, Ethan Green and Zachary Booth; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Jerry Stout. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. Special music will be provided by, Pam Bailey. A committal service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Home National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession at 1:20 p.m. Active pallbearers will be: David Thomason, Steven Green, Dylan Rutherford, Andy Winkle, Brad Dougherty and David Ingle. Honorary pallbearers will be: her brother, Joe Lilley and the members of the Berea Free Will Baptist Church. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
