Frances Daniels Torbett, age 85, 1012 King Richard Blvd., Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Monday, September 24, 2007. She was a native and lifelong resident of the Johnson City area and was a daughter of the late Fred Samuel and Clara Riggs Daniels. Mrs. Torbett held a Masters Degree in English and taught school for several years, but most of her life was focused on her faith and family. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Johnson City, and had been active in the Christian Womens Club and the National Day of Prayer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Norman Torbett. Survivors include: one son, Tom Torbett, and his wife Polly, Johnson City; two daughters, Jeanie Torbett, Johnson City, and Ann Crutcher, and her husband Randy, Jonesborough; one brother, Sam Daniels, and his wife Shirley, Johnson City; four sisters, Jewell Lane, Johnson City, Isabel Williams, Johnson City, Evelyn Alison, Jonesborough, and Freddie Lee Henley, and her husband Rudy, Knoxville; two brothers-in-law, Warren Torbett, and his wife Vickie, Piney Flats, and David Monath, Baltimore, MD; sister-in-law, Nancy Torbett, Piney Flats; grandchildren and their spouses, Tommy and Kelly Torbett, Hanes and Stacie Torbett, Lance and Christy Torbett, Susan and Raymond McBride, and Lacy Torbett, all of Johnson City, Tracy Crumley Lagerblade, Johnson City, Chad Crumley, Middleburg, VA, Ann Lindsey Crumley, Johnson City, Mary Frances and Craig Matherne, Eunice, LA, Andy Crutcher, Johnson City, and Ryan Crutcher, Johnson City; 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Committal services for Frances Torbett will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday in Edgefield Cemetery, Piney Flats. Family and friends will meet at Morris-Baker by 1:30 pm to go in procession to the cemetery for those services. Dr. James Richter will officiate. Mrs. Torbetts grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The memorial service for Frances Torbett will be conducted 6:00 Thursday evening at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Johnson City. Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends at the church.
