Garey Leon Jackson, age 77, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully with family by his side in his home on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
He was born on December 24, 1941 in Johnson City to the late Cliner and Martha (Walker) Jackson.
Garey attended Asbury Elementary and Jonesborough High School and worked hard as a brick and block mason until his retirement in 1999. He most recently attended Living Word Church of God. He enjoyed art, motorcycles, horses, Western films and photography. He particularly loved photographing nature. He and his wife Louella, had two children, Sherry (Jackson) Greene and Jeff Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cliner and Martha (Walker) Jackson, his brothers Antonio Jackson, Randolph Jackson, Karloff Jackson and his sister Carmelita (Jackson) Hankal.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louella Jackson, his sister Judee Howell and her husband Steve, his children Sherry Greene, Jeff Jackson and his wife Angela, his grandchildren Shawna Trivett and her husband Matt, Eric Greene, Chantal Jackson, Ariel DeVault and her husband Shawn, three great grandchildren, Elijah Trivett, Kenza Jackson-Ruff, Creedon DeVault and several nieces and nephews.
The Jackson family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Amedysis for their exceptional and kind home care they provided to Garey over the last 9 months. They also wish to thank Justin Vaughn and Michelle Kelley for the loving care they provided as well.
The family of Garey Jackson will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2019, in the Morris Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will be held afterward at 12:30 PM, with Pastor Steve Guinn officiating. A committal service will follow at 2:00 PM at Washington County Memory Gardens. Friends and family are asked to gather at the graveside by 1:50 PM.
Pallbearers will be Eric Greene, Jeff Jackson, Matt Trivett, Shawn DeVault, Dan Brant and Daniel Jackson.
