Gary Lawrence 'Butch'? Gillette, age 68, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Gillette was born in Washington County, Tennessee, a son of the late Lawrence V. and Mary Ella Slagle Gillette. He was a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gillette was preceded in death by a son, Billy Wayne Gillette, one sister, Joyce Ella Cross, and a special mother-in-law who he loved very much, Frances Ratcliff. Mr. Gillette is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Joyce Boyd Gillette; four step sons, Steve Cornett, Eddie Cornett, Lewy Cornett, and David Cornett and their families; four sisters, Jean Keller and husband Robert, Phyllis Copas, Delilah 'Lolly'? Fagan and husband Wayne, Sandra Armour; thirteen grandchildren and step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two special pets, Dixie and Pepper. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, November 9, 2010 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Lewy Cornett officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday morning, November 10, 2010 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ryan Cornett, Alex Cornett, Cody Cornett, Josh Cornett, Jackson Cornett, James Gillette, Mark Boyd and Robert Keller. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Dawson, Scotty Emeritt, Eddie Barnett, and Tommy Boyd. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 am Wednesday morning. The family would like to say a special thanks to Amedisys Home Health, Susan and Regina, and Amedisys Hospice, Brenda, Christy and Terra.
