George D. McKinney, 85, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at his home. George was born in Cranberry, NC. He was a son of the late Frank Paul and Emma Ollis McKinney. George worked as a salesman for Wade Bulla Wholesale Meats. He was a member of King Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen S. McKinney; great granddaughter, Hannah Fitzgerald; and several siblings. Survivors include: four children, Maynard McKinney and his wife Linda, Linda Conner and her husband Larry, Deborah McKinney, and Mike McKinney and his wife Andi; seven grandchildren, Heather Fitzgerald and her husband David, Natasha Conner, Joanna McKinney, George McKinney, Michael McKinney, Courtney McKinney, and Gavin Russell; three great grandchildren, David Fitzgerald III, Tanner Thornton, and Elliott Conner; two sisters, Anne Ollis and Wilma Boone; brother, Jimmy Allen McKinney; and several nieces and nephews. The family of George D. McKinney will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Monday, January 4, 2016 in the Morris-Baker Oak Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm Monday under the direction of Rev. Jerry Cornett. A committal is scheduled for 11 am Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 10:30 am Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
