George Leslie Hicks

George Leslie Hicks, 73, of Johnson City, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City and was a son of the late Earl Hicks and Nettie Hicks McQueen. He was also preceded by one brother, Earl Homer Hicks and three sisters, Helen Harris, Christine Yates and Ann Hamm. Mr. Hicks was a member of the Johnson City Church of God. He was a retired member of the Johnson City Police Department with 31 years of service. Survivors include; his wife of 54 years, Lena Hicks; two daughters, LaVonne Hicks Miller and her husband Dennis and Karen Hicks Feathers and her husband Clyde all of Johnson City; one sister; Bonnie June Previtte of Clearwater, Fla.; five Grandchildren, Jason Royston, Leslie Feathers, Julia Church and her husband Samuel, Hunter Miller and Robert Miller and his wife Fran; two great Grandsons, Asher Church son of Julia and Draygon Feathers, to be born in September son of Leslie and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Johnson City Church of God at 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 28, 2012. Rev. C. Bryant Collins and Rev. Roy Yelton will officiate. Burial services will be conducted at the Patton-Simmons Cemetery at 10:00am on Friday. A procession will leave the church for the cemetery at 9:30 am. Active pallbearers will be Rocky Collins, Mark Lyons, George Lightner, Chuck Boyer, Jerry Rector and Matthew Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Carson Alexander, Jeff Alexander, Eric Watts, Chris Watts, Jordan Johnson, Justin Johnson and Hobart Bradshaw. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday. Other times at his residence, 137 Woodlyn Road, Johnson City.
