Dr. Gerald Keith Ginnings aka, G.K. or Doc., 83, of Jonesborough, passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Greensboro, NC and a son of the late Paul Meade Ginnings and Reva Roll Ginnings. Following his bachelors and Masters degree Dr. Ginnings taught Math at East Tennessee State University. While at ETSU Dr. Ginnings received the National Education Award as Teacher of the Year. After a short career as an insurance adjuster Dr. Ginnings worked for RCA in the Midwest on the Atlas and Titan Missell project. Survivors include three sons; Russell R. Ginnings and Jeff Meade Ginnings both of Elizabethton and David K. Ginnings of Salem, VA; two brothers; Paul Ginnings of Wadsworth, OH and Wendell Ginnings of Columbus, OH; a cousin, Bob Ginnings of Washington, DC; seven Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
