Gerald Keith Sexton

September 26, 1953 — July 23, 2012

Gerald 'Jerry' Sexton, age 58, went to be with the Lord following a brief illness in the Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL on Monday, July 23, 2012. Mr. Sexton was born in Avery County, North Carolina and was the son of the late Peary Sexton, Jr. and Mary Calhoun Sexton of Johnson City. In addition to his father, Mr. Sexton was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Trevor Sexton, and also by one of his brothers, Gary Wayne Sexton. He had spent quite a few years in the Johnson City area earlier in his life but had most recently made his home in Glen Carbon, IL. After years of working as a graphic designer in the printing industry, he was finally enjoying taking some time off to enjoy his family, especially his grandchildren! He also loved to fish and found great joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Francesca Eales and her husband Greg of Glen Carbon, IL and April Maupin and her husband Brian of Jonesborough; three brothers, Rick Sexton and his wife Sharon of Jonesborough, Bryan Sexton and his wife Tammy of Johnson City, and Victor Sexton of Dorsey IL; one sister, Mary Ann Spurrell of Warrenton VA; five grandchildren, Avalon Eales, Atticus Eales and Lux Eales, all of Glen Carbon IL and Jesse Donegan and Caitlyn Maupin of Jonesborough; several aunts and uncles as well as nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Sexton will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Grace Baptist Church located at 612 Collins Drive, Johnson City with Rev Mike Pelham officiating. The graveside committal service will be immediately following the funeral at 2PM in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour just prior to the service. (1pm to 2pm) Pallbearers will be: Mike Lowe, Kenny Masengill, Greg Eales, Kevin Masengill, Dylan Sexton, Blane Sexton, Kevin Locklin, and Brian Maupin.
