Mrs. Gladys Lawson Foulk Turbyfill Cooke, age 79, of Jonesborough, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Cooke was a native of Sullivan County. She was the daughter of the late George Lawson and Anna Hawk Lawson. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her second husband John Turbyfill; one brother, George Lawson, Jr.; one sister, Vestal Caffarelli; one son, Dwayne Foulk. Mrs. Cooke was an LPN at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a member of the Grace Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband of seven years, James Cooke; two daughters, Patricia M. Andrews and her husband John and Tammy Price and her husband Chuck; one brother, H.B. Lawson and his wife Frances; three sisters, Elizabeth Dunn, Doris Jean Herman and Lois Wiseman and her husband John; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Gladys Cooke will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, September 30, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Curtis Hurt will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Friday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105.
