Proverbs 31:28: Her children arise up; and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Gladys Forbes Snyder, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 21, 2017 following a brief illness. She was born October 27,1923 in Washington County, TN to William M. Forbes and Etta May Boone. She was an excellent homemaker and loved cooking family meals, canning, and gardening. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Dudley Sherman Snyder on April 7,1993 and three brothers, Ernest Forbes of Princeton, WV, Paul Forbes of Princeton, WV and L H. Forbes of Portsmouth, VA; sisters, Eliza Jenkins of Elizabethton,TN; Emma G. Forbes of Johnson City, TN, Ella Marteen Forbes of Johnson City, TN, and Hazel Foster of Johnson City, TN. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Challengers Sunday School for over 20 years. She had a servants heart and all who knew her will remember her sweet disposition and service to her church. She leaves behind two children to cherish her memories, daughter: Dianne M. Snyder of Johnson City, TN; son, Chris S. Snyder and his wife Jane of Jonesborough, TN; one grandson, Michael Martin of Elizabethton, TN. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank Dr. Rachel Monderer for her love and care of Mrs. Snyder for the past 24 years as well as her many friends and family for their kindness. The family of Gladys Forbes Snyder will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2017, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Rev. Mark Harrod officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday, in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM Wednesday.
