Gladys Jean Potter

Jean Tucker Potter, 78, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday evening, September 11, 2011. She was a native of Washington County, daughter of the late William 'Bill'? and Ruth Garst Tucker. In addition to her parents, an infant daughter, Vicki Ruth Potter, a brother, Dorman Tucker and a son-in-law, Alan G. Delany preceded her in death. Jean was a member of the East Unaka Christian Church in Johnson City. She worked as a telephone operator with United Telephone and as an administrative assistant in the medical field with Bowman Clinic. Following, she became a dedicated homemaker. Survivors include: by her husband of 58 years, Jack Potter of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron G. and P. Potter of Cleveland, TN; two daughters, Gina Delany of Knoxville and Susan 'K.P.'? Potter of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Amber Potter Montgomery and her husband Clayton Montgomery and Paige Delany Draper and her husband Lt. Phillip Draper; two great grandchildren, Ella Grace Draper and Addison Montgomery. A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Dr. Wayne Emery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Highland Church Cemetery, Jonesborough. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends, honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of the East Unaka Christian Church. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession by 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to: the Gideons International North Camp, P. O. Box 3695, Johnson City, TN 37602-3695 or the East Unaka Christian Church, 1201 E. Unaka Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601.
