Gladys Tallent Hampton

Gladys Tallent Hampton, born 12/12/12, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in the NHC Healthcare of Johnson City. Mrs. Hampton was born in Campbell County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late A.R. and Kitty Jones Tallent. She was a homemaker and a member of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Hampton, one great grandson, Blair Birchfield, three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Hampton is survived by two daughters, Lorna Cox and husband Jerry, and Gail Combs and husband Curtis, both of Johnson City; four grandchildren, David Collins and wife Leslie, Sharon Miller, Joe Cox, and Rachel Cox; two great grandchildren, Hailey Ann Collins and Caleb Hampton Collins; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon, December 4, 2010 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Committal will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jerry Cox, Joe Cox, David Collins, James Patrick, Luther Cox and Herman Cox.
