Glen Carroll Bolden, 88, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was a native of Hancock County, son of the late Ace and Leona Nelson Bolden.
Glen joined the Navy in his youth, with an honorable discharge after serving during the Korean War. Glen graduated from ETSU, and went on to work as a claims adjuster for Gay Taylor, K-Mart, and Sears. He helped to build Mountain View Baptist Church from the ground up, and became a charter member there. In addition to the regular service, he also attended the Glory Bound Sunday School Class. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who loved his family very much. He enjoyed spending time fishing, camping, and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his wife of 40 years, Pauline Stewart Bolden; two brothers, Garvey Bolden and Robert Bolden; two sisters, Etta Coates and Trula Larkins.
Survivors include: three children, Michael Bolden and his wife Sherry, Stephanie Barnes and her husband Tony, and David Bolden and his wife Nikki; four siblings, Bonnie Epps, Mary Hood, Patty Babb, and Joe Bolden; five grandchildren, Brad, Brittany, Josh, Baylee, and Rylee; three great-grandchildren; great uncle, Charlie Bolden; special friend, Mary Leonard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks is extended to the caring staff at the Waters and the Johnson City Medical Center for the great care they took with Glen during his time with them.
The family of Glen Bolden will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, officiated by Reverend James Cambron. A committal service will be conducted at 1:30 PM at East Tennessee Cemetery, 2630 TN-75, Blountville, TN 37617. Friends and family are asked to gather at the graveside by 1:20 PM.
Pall bearers will be selected from family and friends.
