Glenda Gail Slagle

November 15, 1945 — July 12, 2013

Glenda Greer Slagle, 67, of Johnson City, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at her residence. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late William Harvey and Hazel Kelley Bales. Glenda had worked at many endeavors, grading wood for Harris-Tarkett, in patient care at Green Valley and in Environmental Services for Johnson City Medical Center. She was a member of the University Parkway Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, two sisters, Ann Autry and Judy Trivette Garland and a brother, Dicky Bales, preceded her in death. Survivors include: her husband, David W. Slagle of the home; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary Anthony Greer, Jr. and Jackie of Jonesborough, Glen A. Greer, Sr. and Dana of Johnson City; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Barbara Bales of Florida, Bill and Dawn Bales of Johnson City; a sister and brother-in-law, Isabel and Bob Evans of Jonesborough; seven grandchildren, Glen A. Greer, Jr., Gary Anthony Greer, III, Josh Greer, Katie Greer, Andrew Greer, Madison Greer and Nickolas Greer; several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, Louis Trivette. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the University Parkway Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Scott Thompson. Special music will be provided by Cathy Thompson. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. A committal will follow in the Tri Cities Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to: University Parkway Baptist Church, 219 University Parkway, Johnson City, TN 37604.
