Gloria Wroe Pierce

June 16, 1931 — November 30, 2013

Gloria Wroe Pierce, 82, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was a native of San Pedro, CA, who had lived most of her life in the Johnson City area. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Ruth Schwanker Wroe. Mrs. Pierce was a member of Cherokee United Methodist Church. For thirty-seven years Mrs. Pierce cared for her husband, Burchel R. Pierce, with whom she owned and operated Pierce Electric Company. In addition to her husband, survivors include: four daughters, Patricia Bell of Roswell, NM, Linda Bailes of Johnson City, Teresa Oler, and her husband James, of Watauga, and Sissy McKinney, and her husband Bill, of Johnson City; one son, Burchel Martin Pierce, and his wife Cathy, of Kingsport; four brothers, Henry Wroe of Temecula, CA, Harold Martin Wroe, and his wife Pat, of Jonesborough, Joseph Edward Wroe, Jr., and his wife Jen, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and John Lewis Wroe, and his wife Cathy, of Little Rock, AR; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family extends special thanks to Caris Hospice and DaVita Dialysis for their care of Mrs. Pierce.
