Gordon T. Bacon

Mr. Gordon T. Bacon, age 78, of Johnson City, passed away January 20, 2013, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Bacon was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was the son of the late Paul Landon Bacon and Lex Ingle Bacon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Georgia Lee Williams, two brother-in-laws, Howard Torbett and Ronnie Minga. Mr. Bacon was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a truck driver for Mason Dixon Company and Carolina Freight. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-three years, Catheryn Minga Bacon; one daughter, Karen Bacon Barnette; one former son-in-law, Michael Barnette; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Minga Torbett; three grandchildren, Jordan Palmer Barnette, Joshua Andrew Barnette and Jessica Lynn Barnette; one niece, Tammy Campbell; one nephew, Johnathon Minga. The graveside committal service for Gordon T. Bacon will be conducted at 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2013, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pastor Lenny Smith will officiate. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Morris-Baker prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Veterans Memorial, PO Box 3594, Johnson City, Tn. 37602 or the charity of your choice.
