Grace Ruth Brinkley, 94, of 305 Shadowood Drive, Johnson City died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Brinkley was a native of Buladean, NC and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Gibbs and Martha Mosley Honeycutt. Mrs. Brinkley was owner with her husband, Walter J. 'W.J.'? Brinkley as Brinkley Enterprise for forty years in the restaurant, coal, and real estate business in Johnson City. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Brinkley was a member of the Cornerstone Church. She is preceded in death by: her husband, Walter J. Brinkley in 1988; one granddaughter, Ruth R. Kipping Thomas; three brothers, Molloy Honeycutt, Henry Honeycutt, and Wallin Honeycutt; four sisters, Pearl McCarthy, Nan Newman, Ollie Leonard and Fie Buffington. Survivors include: two daughters, Teresa Gregory of Johnson City and Finnie and husband Paul Kipping of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother, Dallas Honeycutt of Johnson City; one sister, Mrs. Tempie Honeycutt of Johnson City; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Alyse Taylor, Kim Ramsey, Sheila Folden, Paul 'Kip'? Kipping, Ryan Elliott, Whitney Andrews, Zackary Fleming, Teresa Fleming, Brianna Taylor, Ashley Kipping, and Kevin Kipping; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Grace Ruth Brinkley will be conducted at 7 PM Saturday, February 7, 2009 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Pastor Barry L. Burns will officiate. A committal service will be conducted in the Monte Vista Mausoleum Chapel at 3:30 PM Sunday. Everyone will meet at the mausoleum chapel. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 5 to 7 PM on Saturday prior to the service.
