Grace S. Patton

May 17, 1928 — July 29, 2008

Grace S. Patton, 80 years of age, of Johnson City, formerly of Maryville, TN went to meet her Savior on Tuesday, July 29, 2008. She was born on May 17, 1928 in Abbeville, SC to the late T.C. and Bessie Skelton Simpson. Mrs. Patton completed high school in Calhoun Falls SC. She finished nurses training in the Nursing Army Corps from Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, GA in the last class. Mrs. Patton was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Southwestern Baptist Church. Her failing health kept her from attending for the last year, but she never forgot the wonderful members there. Survivors include: her loving and devoted husband of 59 years and faithful caregiver, Lou A. Patton; she will live forever in the hearts of her children, Leslie P. Richards of Alcoa, TN, Keith Patton and his wife Retha of Johnson City, and Mark Patton of Watauga, TN; she was a loving grandmother to, Chad and Megan Richards of Alcoa, TN, Luke and Laura Patton of Johnson City, TN; she also leaves behind her wonderful sister-in-law, Sara P. Major of Greenwood, SC ; many nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Grace S. Patton will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, July 31, 2008 in the Southwestern Baptist Church. Rev. Rusty Wishon will officiate. Interment will be at 11 AM Friday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 10:30 AM Friday to go in procession. Active pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Southwestern Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Stout, Jay Allen, Ed Parker, Chad Richards and Luke Patton. The family will receive friends at Southwestern Baptist Church from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 Special Thanks to the Nurses, Volunteers, and CNAs of Medical Center Hospice and Helping Hands Caregivers, and the Adult IV Class of Southwestern Baptist Church for all their special care and many acts of kindness. Special Thanks also to Dr. Clifford Wiegand and Dr. Robert Rosser and their caring staff.
