Greta Sue Copas, 81, of Johnson City, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Greta was a native of Lee County, Virginia, and a daughter of the late Guy and Hazel Tester Mullins. Greta was a member of Clark Street Baptist Church, and was passionate in her service to God. She also loved to spend time with her family, especially on outings to IHOP. She worked as a telephone operator with United Telephone for much of her life. In addition to her parents, Greta was preceded in death by: her husband, Horace Copas, and one son-in-law, Ronnie Whitson. Survivors include: three children, Ginger Whitson of Johnson City, Michael Copas of Orlando, Florida, and Jeffrey Copas of Johnson City; two sisters, Patricia Jackson of Johnson City and Lisa Faye Rodriguez of Roseburg, Oregon; six grandchildren, Amy Copas of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jarrett Whitson of Johnson City, Jordan Copas of Johnson City, Maci Whitson of Knoxville, Heather Copas of Virginia, and Madison Gilliam-Copas of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; as well as four great grandchildren. The family of Greta Sue Copas will receive friends Friday, June 1, 2018, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Mike Anglin will officiate. A committal service will be held immediately after the funeral service in Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Jarrett Whitson, Jordan Copas, Greg Randolph, Griffin Randolph, Chris Ostrouchov, and Steve Carter.
